ok, so i went to michaels and bought amaco clay. i was reading in some forums that terra cotta clay is not good. mine says 'terre cotta' but on a different box, it says white. wen ppl say terra cotta is not good, do they mean the colour or the type? thanks for your help!
I haven't used terra cotta to make an ocarina, so I can't speak for or against terra cotta. I would think that it's good for making pots and vases, but ocarinas.... I think the shrinkage rate is too high to use terra cotta consistently.
I don't recommend Amaco. I used it for a while and it dried too fast on me. I suggest using Creative Paperclay. It's and air dry clay, it's pretty close in feel and texture to normal clay, and you can even put it in the oven to harden it faster if you're in a hurry. And it won't dry too fast. It's sold at Michael's. If you don't see it, ask for it.
