Hi, im Phoenix. i Started playing the ocarina about 4 years ago when I got my first 5 hole ocarina from the 4th street fair in Tucson and have been playing ever since.

I play various kinds of ocarinas but prefer my 11 holed one, which was made by a local artisan.

I've been playing for almost 3 weeks lol, so i don't know if i qualify as I am not between 1-5 yrs but I figured I should post here anyway. I play a 12-hole tenor from STL and I might buy a soprano shortly as well, not sure yet.
I would love to change the world... but they won't give me the source code!

My name is Terra, but I normally go by Rin in real life. ((Due to my sister's name being so close to mine.)) I've been playing ocarina for.... about a year now. I only have a 4-Hole Pendent Ocarina currently, but I am in the process of ordering a 12-Hole Tenor from stlocarina.com. People keep saying that going from a 4-Hole to a 12-Hole is a big jump, but I believe I'm ready. Once I master the 12-Hole, I plan on going straight to a Triple Ocarina... If I can ever manage to get enough money. :(

Of course, the popular Nintendo Game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time inspired me to play. I never really knew they were real instruments until my friend got me one from the Med-Fair. So, now that I've found nice Sweet Potato Ocarinas, I am going for my life's dream, and I am going to master the Ocarina quickly. I just wish that the way the numbers for the tabs were a bit more logical. :?

I think that's enough about me... So if you'd like, you can PM me on Gaia or on here. My username on Gaia is Foxxy Rin.

Hello. I'm Flip. I go by Flip in real life. So you can call me Flip. :) Anywho, I got my first two ocarinas in August 2007 at a Renaissance Festival. One is a four-hole pendant, the other a 6-hole extended range "sweet-potato", though the fingering is in pendant. I fell in love with the instrument and have been looking for more information since then. I found stlocarinas soon after that, and got the 9-hole soprano, but not understanding what I was really getting I wasn't satisfied (I am now). I tried a polycarbonite Mountain Ocarina, but I really didn't like that (still don't, but I'm picky, and I wasn't sure what I was getting yet). Now that I'm finally understanding more...thank you Ocarinas United and specifically DocJazz4 for his wonderful Youtube videos...I bought a 12-hole Tenor from stlocarina.com and am in the works to get a Hind Alto Sweet Potato. I just barely got the 12 hole, and it has made me give my 9-hole another chance, which I am starting to grow fond of, but I am in need of serious practice. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well, and God bless!

G'day From OZ

Postby Zeodary on Sat Feb 16, 2008 2:33 am

Hi I'm Zeodary. I have a 3 inch 12 hole purple clay oc from stlocarina.com and for its size it is magnificent! Not too airy, not too deep (or even alto for that matter) and perfectly tuned. I'm 14, and from Australia. I can play a few songs, but I clearly need more practise. I also have a 9 hole green oc from stl too, but its buggered (damaged, in Australian) so i can't use it properly (but i plan to fix it).

Thats my story, hooroo (bye, in Australian)
