Best Zelda Replica

Postby ben2000677 on Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:06 pm

So I've been playing my 5 hole pendant for a while now and decided I want more diversity in my playing
Could someone recommend me the best 12-hole zelda ocarina? I am looking at songbird's and STL's but if there are any others please let me know.
Also bare in mind the STL have high shipping costs to the UK where as songbird does not =)
thanks
Ben

Stl vs Songbird I would recommend Songbird, while the Stl ocarinas are still very nice instruments the "Tenors" (commonly known as altos) tend to be rather airy on the high notes :( I really enjoy my Songbird ocarinas, and I'm sure if you get a Songbird, you'll really enjoy it too!

Another great option is ocarinas made by Spencer Register, but they are rarely sold(I think he's working on a website), and go for $300+ on ebay!

Of these three, I would highly recommend the Songbird, definitely the best for your dollar!

Songbird and Spencer's OoT replicas are the more accurate-looking replicas compared to the one STL sells.

Songbird or Focalink is the way to go! Both are excellent! Focalink doesn't sell Zelda replicas, but is the same style of ocarina (12-hole transverse). Which you purchase is a matter of personal preference. I'm sure moonsyne can be of more help(in terms of telling the pros and cons of each) than me since she owns a Songbird OoT(I don't have one of these yet), and a Focalink 12-hole (the only Focalink I have is a double, it's fantastic!). I believe she posted a review of both on The Ocarina Network
