Double and Triple Ocarina Making

Postby Rogers1977 on Thu Nov 29, 2007 3:28 am

I want to try to make a double and maybe a triple ocarina. It's basically 2-3 chambers put together, right? How hard could it be? Sure the mouth piece is going to be challenging to make, but if I make your basic 12 hole and another or two more chambers, stick them together, wouldn't I have a double or triple? Maybe the tuning will be hard, but I think it's worth a try.

Well I guess you can try :D

It isn't an easy instrument to make, I would imagine. Ideally you would already have to be able to make the 3 single-chambered ocarinas already to be able to mash them into a triple.

See how it goes

While I leave it for the experts to make the really good triple ocarinas that is worth buying, I dont see anything to lose by trying to make your own. It will be an excellent learning excerise I can imagine.

I say Go for it :D
There's no harm in trying plus if it doesn't work out kill it a make some thing else

O and kissing to make a triple you make a 12 hole with no mouth piece than add around the side of it
if you mash it together it would be to big and may crumble when fired

1 more thing don't add the mouth piece untill last

2. Songbird Wishbone ocarina
3. STL 9-hole soprano ocarina (broken.....but fixed)
4. Mountain Polycarbonate ocarina (G)

So, who has a double or triple? I need measurements. How long is the big, middle, and small chamber and what are their widths and depths? Also, how big are all the holes? What's the diameter of each hole? And what's the width and depth of the mouthpiece? And are all the airways in the mouthpiece the same or do they get gradually smaller?

Purist. Doubles and Triples are very handy for playing the guitar solo for that Dream Theater song.
