Making the Ocarina Tenor, Alto, or Soprano?

Postby airikita on Thu Dec 18, 2008 12:45 am

An even better queery: how do I make the ocarina a certain octave? Is there a shape, size, or form the ocarina has to be crafted into? I'm looking to make either an Alto or Soprano, something sweet sounding..

THe type of ocarina you make depends on the size of the ocarina, saprano ocarina are small, altos are somewhat bigger and tenors are around the same size as alto ones.

Oh that's good to know.. well, I do like the sound of Alto and Soprano, maybe leaning more to the soprano.

I'll keep looking for information through google, but I would like to know how I am to set the tones of my ocarina.. if anyone knows some links or information to ocarina chamber measurements, I would like to know.

I'm hoping to make a soprano in G or the lowest soprano can be..

When making a soprano ocarina remember:

the chamber is probably too small to put eccessive holes, I would say 12 holes max.

the pitch will be high and may damage hearing if blown into too hard.
Good luck!

Oh that will be a problem, I'm going to be doing an experimental ocarina, so I should be doing Alto.. I guess it'll hit soprano notes if done correctly.

Tyvm for helping out, I have found the proper measurements for my ocarina..
