Probably one of the best techniques. You just need to get into inspiration, think of a relaxing place, or a good hymn to get you going. Once you start playing, you can actually make good tunes and songs.

I used to read notes to play, but lately, songs are just coming out of me thanks to mother nature. Who else is like this?

I am new to ocarina, so I don't know instrument enough to be able to put what I have in my head to pysical tones, but on other instruments I play I do that all the time. It's most rewarding and fulfilling thing there is in music... And I found out my free flow is best at night, after midnight, when everything is quiet :ocarina:

I take mine to the ancient forest near my house, there's a river with swans and moorhens, they always come over to listen when I play :) Sometimes the birds peep back at me too :)

I love this! There's really nowhere I can go like others describe, but fortunately I've gotten this to work in the house and on my back steps. Sometimes the neighborhood dogs even stop barking to listen. :o It's just a matter of getting out of your own way, not worrying about what comes out of the oc and how "stupid" it could sound, and playing like no one is listening. It's not always easy to stop your conscious mind from interfering, but it's well worth the effort!

Lol, empty fields work well, or in the largest room of your house when no one is home. Not all of us can perform like DocJazz, Im still shy when it comes to other people listening to my Ocarina playing :S O_o
