Hi I am Nona Yourb Eeswax and I have been playing for about a month. I found out about ocarina from Legend of Zelda (big fan) and on youtube I wanted to see people playing real ocarinas. Then I saw docjazz4 and I knew I had to get one. My fav song to play is the tetris theme.

Well, I posted my first video about 8 months ago, so I guess I got my first ocarina a little over 8 months ago. I first heard of the ocarina from Zelda as well. (I know, like everyone else) Actually, it was my little brother who got an ocarina first for his birthday in November. But he got an 8 hole Peruvian which wasnt as well made. I started playing his and wasnt really satisfied with it so I decided to try and buy one off of ebay. I was not aware of any ocarina sites at the time, so it was really my only choice. I instantly ran across Spencer's Ocarina. *Drool*. They were selling for about $250-$350 each, so I knew that was out of my league. I settled for the one you see in most of my videos. A 9 hole in the key of C. It's still working great and can play a decent amount of songs. After I played that for a bit I really got obsessed with wanting to try and make one. So for a Christmas gift my parents paid for handbuilding (pottery), classes, which you had to take inorder to use the kiln at the store. Well one day after taking all the classes, I went in and sat down for almost 6 hours to make that ocarina. I went really slow because well, I hadnt made an ocarina before. (And I didnt use a mold). So I have that one which im sure you all have seen in a couple of my videos. And my most recent one the 12 hole alto from STL ocairna. Just started getting used to it. Its got a sweet range. 8)

Well thats my story. I know, long. ;)

Hmm.... I first heard of the Ocarina from LOZ: OoT and I'm huge Nintendo fan, all I do is play games for hours each day and I've got a lot of merchandise from the games. Then I decided to search for Ocarina on YouTube when I was bored and I came across some videos by docjazz :P

I pestered him until I found out where I could get one and he said www.songbirdocarinas.com so... I went there and bought a Zelda 6 hole Sweet Potato and a 6 hole pendant.

That's about it really. And that was something like... 3 months ago.

I've been playing the ocarina since July this year (2007). I started off with some cheapo plastic ocarinas, but quickly upgraded to a clay ocarina from Austria through my local music store.

I am very happy to have found Ocarinas United on youtube - it reallly got me connected with those who share the same [s]obsession[/s] passion for ocarinas.

I knew about Ocarinas since I was a kid from this cartoon show, but I only started considering it seriously after playing Ocarina of Time.

Pleased to meet you all :D

I just recently got my ocarina just a few days ago, (a transverse 12-hole alto), and so far, i like it. Its actually very easy for me to play, and it is a beautiful instrument. :D :ocarina: Right now, my parents keep bugging me to keep practicing, lol.

Well, this is Greenguy, peace.

I picked up my ocarina yesterday, and I am so very glad I went with the nine hole instead of a pendant. It was much easier to pick up than I expected, and I love the gloss on it and the size. So far I only have two problems, and that is finding a way to turn the tabs, into sheet music. That, and getting the notes to sound perfect in the first place, but I'm guessing that will come with practice ^_^

I've been playing for about 3 months now.

Most people think I have been playing for years. But that's because I was a musician before I started the Ocarina. It was very easy to learn the ocarina, and I had already had about 5 songs learned by the end of the day.

Also another reason a lot of people think I have been playing for long is because I improv a lot. Usually in Improvs I tend to play fast which makes my friends and family amazed.

Of course I'm not trying to brag or anything. I was just showing what I could do with it so far.

Anyway I'm Rembrant. I'm also Gliabrant on youtube, but that was because Rembrant was taken. I also don't recommend going there because it's empty.
Goodbye OcarinasUnited.

I'm getting bored of you.

I have only had an ocarina for 2 weeks, first the soprano 9 hole from STLO which I regret buying. It is just too tough to play, me being an out of shape old guy. I am so happy I bit the bullet and immediately ordered the 12 hole tenor for STLO. Much easier to play. More holes, but a simpler playing pattern. Deeper tones which are much easier to produce than high pitched ones. I would certainly suggest this for other beginners. I am having a blast with it but now I want more songs more than just whats in my Zelda book.

Guess I'll introduce myself too.

I've started playing the ocarina in may 2006 if I'm correct, can't really remember.
I started out with a mountain ocarina and recently I bought a bunch of 12 holes and a double ocarina from STL which I'm very pleased with.
I have no musical background and the ocarina is the first instrument I've ever played (except the recorder in high school, but I sucked (butt) :p ).

I'm 18 years old and live in Belgium. And uh, if you want to know something more just ask ^^

hi im icecream, or mightyicecream...

ive been playing the ocarina since july, the main reason i bought an ocarina is cuz i cant whistle...in any way :P
i started off with a 12-hole tenor from stlocarina.com, and at that time it came with a free 6-hole pendant, so learned that first as i thought it would be easier (not realy :P).
just before i got my ocarina i started learning to play keyboard, and with some books for beginners i learned how to read sheet music, wich helps me alot in playing the ocarina (although i still have to change my sheetmusic into stl-tabs, but i got pretty quick at that  ).

im 15 years old, and im from the netherlands :) thats it. :ocarina: :ocarina: :ocarina:

Hi I'm Rogers1977. I started playing a couple weeks ago and I'm really loving it. I'm mainly a drummer/percussionist and am not used to blowing. It's a work in progress, but I manage. I'm 15 and I live in Free Country: US of A. haha. Anyway, I have a soprano made of clay in E Major (a little tiny thing) that I bought at Station 5 (halfway up) on Mt. Fuji, Japan. It's a ten hole and is very hard to play with the holes so close together. I also have a 10 hole alto in C Major that is made of plastic. I am learning French at school, so if you need a translator, I'm right here.
