I don't really have a problem with off-topic posting as long as it is done in the correct sub-forum.(Which does not always happen unfortunately)
That is what the off-topic sub-forum is for after all.
I agree with CursingLlama, if you can't be social you might as well not interact at all.
Then again I also agree that this forum should be mainly about Ocarinas.

A community that grows will begin to seem a somewhat disconnected despite that there is ONE thing they have in similar. I agree that there does seem a great deal of off-topic threads and that a filter of some sort would benifit the forums allowing everyone to easily find information for which the society was created. However, I believe cutting out the off topic conversations would destroy the community.

In the end, what is the point in a society that isn't social?

Hopefully in the future we can move these boards over to david's (docjazz) domain and reorganize things to make them easier to search etc. For now I have a feeling this is just something that needs to be tolerated.

Trust me when I say I agree there is perhaps too much off-topic, but aside from creating a second OU board simply for off-topic threads I can't think of a way to handle it without getting this off the freeforums domain.

It is good to see a general agreement, a little less off topic a little more ocarina, cursingllama i think you are right until moving to the new site we really do need to just tolerate this
