This is a list of most of the people here who have created sheet music, tabs, or MIDIs for our playing pleasure! Thanks everyone!

Below is a list of the makers of the tabs, what kind of music they make, and what format it is in. Please look through these before requesting a song, as it may be here. If you dont see the song you want, you can request it in the thread of that tab/sheet music maker which you prefer.

teidon: sheet music collection (with MIDIs)
Ocarina: All, including double and triple
Songs: 20+
Genre: Games, Anime, Movies, Songs
Status: Not taking requests
Medium: PDF and MIDI
All songs are in PDF and MIDI format, making it easy to learn to play them

( updated 5/7/08 )
Pandaman: sheet music and tabs collection
Ocarina: 12 holes in C, 6 holes
Songs: 6+
Genre: Zelda and folk songs
Status: Not taking requests?
Medium: Pictures
Made in paint, and look excellent.

If anyone wants to add a link to their thread, please post here. I will add it to the list. Please use the above format as to keep things tidy. Thanks. :)

text-based tabs available

Postby tfy on Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:11 pm

Hi. I just joined Ocarinas United, and I thought I'd share the tabs I've made so far. They're only for pendant ocarinas right now, because I only know how to play pendants. Also, the tabs are completely text-based - it makes them very easy to type/edit/share, and they're also easy to read. I use letters that combine to look like picture tabs (check out the link and you'll see what I mean). I'll try to add more soon.

tfy: tabs collection
Ocarina: Pendant (4-6 holes)
Songs: 25+
Genre: Instrumental/Classical, International, Movies, Games
Status: Not taking requests
Medium: TXT

Anyone have tabs/sheet music for a 10 hole? I just bought one on a trip to Japan and am in the process of learning how to play it. Thanks, sorry if I posted in the wrong section

TFY,
BB tabs, how very clever. I still find the pictorals easier to play to, but the usefulness of the BB tabs can't be denied. Since it looks like I'm gonna be a 6 hole OC person, I look forward to more tabs. Also Have you ever fooled around with the ABC music notation system?

notation

PonderWolf,

Thanks a lot for checking out my tabs - I'm glad you find them useful! I have actually looked into the ABC system - I wanted to see what was out there before trying to make my own. I like ABC, and I think it's great that there's a standardized text-based representation of sheet music out there.

I have two reasons for not using ABC for ocarina music:
1. In ABC, you're still reading notes off the screen, not fingerings, so it's text-based sheet music as opposed to text-based tabs. In BB tabs, I try for a visual representation of the fingerings (as much as possible), which I hope makes it easier to read and learn, especially for newer players.
2. Another advantage of tabs over sheet music (text-based or otherwise) is that the tabs don't need to be transposed. So if I tabbed all of my songs using a Tenor C (which is what I happen to play), someone with an ocarina tuned in G or another key can still use the same tabs. That wouldn't work with ABC.

Not to say that tabs are better than sheet music overall (I don't want to get into that debate!), but those two reasons made sense to me in starting my collection.

Anyway, I really appreciate your feedback, and I'll keep trying to add new songs.

TFY
