Stereotypes

I'm sure I'm not alone, but I absolutely HATE it when people stereotype Ocarinas to Zelda.
Just the other day, I went over to a friends house, and I felt like bringing my Ocarina. He asked, "Why did you bring that weird Zelda thing?" 'Twas I pissed. :-x
So... Stereotypes just suck. I just want people to realize that Ocarinas do not belong to Zelda! Sure. Zelda helped bring popularity to the Ocarina here in America, but... Say it's... 50 years from now and Music is a very popular category in pop culture. Even more popular than today. Especially Ocarinas! Now, what are people going to remember? Ocarinas or Zelda?

Its actually most likely that they will remember both based on the popularity of both
There is no right or wrong in this, but i can understand why that would frustrait you.
The thing that really made it popular was indeed, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
but without that, we might not have even HALF the players we do now because of that game
