seperate announcement/general discussion parts?

I find it rather annoying that when anyone posts something in the general discussion part it comes up as an announcement. I'm not at all against the idea that anyone can make an announcement and everyone would see it on the homepage, but could it be put into a seperate part, so that if someone has something they just want to discuss it doesn't just show up as an announcement? That'd be awesome! Thanks!

I agree; the idea of being able to make announcements is a wonderful one, but I'm unclear as to the difference between an announcement and a new topic. I think some distinction between the two could be good; does every topic have to start as an announcement?

Right now every topic placed in the general discussion forum is automatically made an announcement, when most of the topic I create there are not announcements at all...

definitely not in front of every post. And I haven't seen anything different about when I post in the general discussion forum.

Sorry I was a bit confused about what you meant with the announcement (the picture didn't load before). What I mean is that every new topic posted in the general discussion forum comes up as an announcement on the home page. I think it would be handier to have a seperate place where people can make announcements that will appear on the first page, instead of that happening to every new topic posted in the general discussion forum.
